Placed my two mahachai in a 10g tank. Left both the mother and father in until the fry were free swimming. I did this because the father never seemed to chase the mother away and they were both staying around the nest. This made it impossible to remove the mother without disturbing the father and his nest.

Last night I found about 30-40 fry. I am not sure if the small number is due to leaving both parents in. Am happy to have this many in any event.

nope the batchies of fry barrie take the dad out around 3 to 4 days after the fry hatch. u will know to take them out b/c they will be free swimming

Actually, they are free swimming already. They reached free swimming stage before I took out both dad and mom. Looks like my esitmate was wrong, a lot were hiding in the moss. Looks more like about 80 now.

I hope I do better at the rearing this time though. My other spawn (11-8-05) is doing fine now (no more deaths) but they are down to a dozen.

When these pair spawn... they are very gentle. Did not notice even a single nip on either fish's fins.
