Would it be possible allow members to delete unwanted comments on their for sale threads.

i.e - I would love this if only i was closer, If only i had room in my tank, & I wish i could afford that.

And so on,

For me personally if i saw something for sale in the forum and noticed there was a few comments on it i would automatically think it had gone.

Just a suggestion.

I have to agree and it is always the same people

Here is one thread for example

Isn't the whole point of the "Please refrain from commenting unless you are interested in more details or are interested in buying." line in the sales form sticky, to ward members from needlessly spamming sales threads?

also if anyone could delete certain posts they could just delete posts they didnt like, for example in discussion threads, if someone posts a view different to that of the OP, if OP can just delete posts they dont like, its not really a discussion is it..

bad idea IMO

Reporting the spam post will solve it.

Yes, please. Just hit the report button. There are a ton of threads every day on the forum -- we know we don't see them all. All the mods are just volunteers, who have outside lives, who cannot be on 24 hours a day. Hitting the report buttons puts an alert on every single page us mods look at to let us know something needs our attention. Most stuff is very routine, and taken care of minutes after we log in. But, we don't know about it until there is a report.

And what if you can not use the report function?

Just keep the deleting in the Classified section - That way you will only delete the spam.

surely you can. little button, says report on the left hand side just under the members details inline with the reply button.

edit - you must be signed in to see it.

I suspect that it's not as simple as that. I would presume the coding of the forum would not allow specialized options for each sub-section.

Just install a classifieds script like http://open-classifieds.com/ under this domain and do away with them being advertised in a discussion forum, that way the mods dont have to constantly remind people to stick to the set format and we can all just get on with our day.... ;)
