Update and question.
We've added the tigers and then a week later (i.e. Tuesday) we added the Loach. Initially the tigers zoomed around and then they settled down, no visible fighting. Then we added the loaches and they shot around the place and did some interesting things. They disputed the open area to the right of the wood with the tigers by zooming through the tiger shoal so that they scattered. Then they took to swimming up the glass to the surface and drifting down - sort of a competition between themselves, even getting their heads out the water with their speed
The night before last everyone was very edgy with each other. We noticed that one of the tigers is missing part of his tail - though it is not ragged - so I assume he's the bottom of the pack. The Loach seemed to be out for each other - lots of apparent fighting and possibly nipping / biting to the back of the head - sometimes three going for each other in a swirling mass!
Yesterday all was a bit quieter Through all this the test results have been very good with no spikes etc.
The thing that is concerning us is that we fasted the fish when they went into the tank and we have got a sinking disk of food for the loach however they don't seem to be interested in it. Three times now the tigers have got to it first and finished it off. Today I dropped the pellet down a tube to the base whilst feeding the tigers so that they didn't see it and we put it in the area the loaches favour however despite one of the loaches actually sitting on the disk they didn't even attempt to eat it!
Question: Should I worry? Are they loaches getting all they need from the bottom of the tank? Do I just try another brand of food? How do I tell if a fish is hungry!!?
Thanks
Miles
