i know you guys are probably like "enough with the pickle stories! "
but i can't help it!
its the second day that pickle (my 2 month old budgie) has been talking and he already knows new words!
he now says:
"pickle"
"pickle up"
"good boy"
"pretty bird"
"lover boy"
"birdy birdy boy"
"mumumumum (mom)"
"NO!"
"BAD BITE"

and imitates my guinea pig, my moms kissy noises, heavy breathing/sighing, bubbles, anything squeeky
and he has been attempting to say other phrases but we can't quite make out what he is saying yet.

i am not crazy for you skeptics!
i have had several family members and friends sneak up on him and hear him saying all of these words/ phrases
i have even video taped him and played it back with the volume up all of the way
his words sound raspy and clicky but they are clearly spoken
I'M HAVING SO MUCH FUN WITH HIM!!!!!!!!!!
once again sorry for being a little chatterbox!
although........ that might be why HE talks so much..........

Budgies sure do talk! you can even teach finches and canaries to talk! especially bull finches but its very very hard to do.

and it doesn't just "sound like the words"
in fact........
i have had at least a dozen people come over and without telling them
what he was saying, they all can understand him....
yeah,
i'm pretty sure that budgies can talk........

We watch hockey night in canada every saturday night, and it has a great theme song. Now my budgie can whistle right along with it. My borhter also taught it to say "F**k You!" Now everytime I turn on the light shes like "F**K You!" Geeze louise...

i try to mind my manners around my little guy for just that reason,
he's a little mouthpeice!
the other day my brother was over and he was glued to my computer and i had made him chicken and mash potatoes and the works and he would not get off....
i asked him about as thousand times politely and he just kept saying "I AM!" (ten minutes later he is still on)
finally as the dinner got cold i yelled "JAMES GET OFF RIGHT NOW!" (he's 13 years old and is going through a mouthy little, lazy, testosterone phase so you have to yell to get your point across sometimes )
and to my surprise my bird (who was sitting on my shoulder) leaned forward and screamed this shreaking "AAH AAH AHH" noise at my brother and held on tight to my shoulder and beat his wings to tell james that "he means business"
it was adorable but i felt bad because i shouldn't have raised my voice in front of him )

I used to have 4 budgies when I was younger, and 2 of them spoke a few words, including an imitation of my mum shouting "Anyone want a cuppa?" lol

Isn't a budgie the same as a parakeet? They talk!

My budgie has never said a word. , again, I have never seen/heard of a talking budgie before. Maybe one day. B)
