i love that running baby. seconds before impact, eh? i once watched a colt gallop straight at a fence in a wet field, sit down trying to stop, flop over on his side, and slide halfway under the bottom rung of the fence.

Haha, that happened to me, only it was a full grown Thoroughbred. He was running after his buddy, the buddy turned, but he couldn't react before the fence. So he slips on the mud and starts sliding, hits the fence, proceeds to stick his foot through the rungs, and then looks at us like "Help?". His nose still has a little dent in it from that.

Oh my goodness, they are so cute. They look so cocky, with that what are you looking at look  . They are so gorgeous, I'm glad they are growing nicely (not that you can tell much they are so small) and so active. Adorable, keep the pics coming. Thanks, Carmen :D

Cute!

Has anyone else wondered why young offspring always look cuter then their fully grown counterparts?

P.T.

I'm sorry but this pic just has to be nominated for POTM  Soooo cute !

Actually, if you look at them everyday, you can tell! It's not much, maybe a 1/4" there, and a 1/3" there, but it's something! The thing you notice most is how fast their teeth develop...they don't hesitate to try out their new ones on you. :X I have so many bruises, I walk down the street and get all these looks..people must think I'm abused or something. :look:

Gorgeous Pics i have to nominate either the first or the 3rd Pic as a POTM pic
Awww, thank you!

it's so their mothers don't kill them
 So true! Though my mares don't care much anymore. The experienced ones are like "Okay kid, you're 3 weeks old, time to start fending for yourself, I'm going to the water bucket, buh-bye". The foals are getting much better about leaving mom, so now they're all playing around with each other. These little guys can gallop fast.

Thanks Bloo! It's a very bizarre look, but it actually happens everytime you scratch his withers. He absolutely loves that and makes those kind of faces every time. It's so up-close and personal because this little foal will not leave your side...literally, he always has to be touching you (or untying your shoes). If you go out into the field, he'll canter over to you from anywhere too. He's the cutest little thing.

oh, THAT'S what face that is. I've found that all babies like their withers, flanks, and in between their front legs scratched best. All the places they can't reach -lol-

no they don't! But our vets were always letting Clancy gum their fingers. Stupid vets, giving "my" horses bad habits and never cleaning up after themselves. bah! :<

Gah, I've been so busy with exams I forgot to reply here. At least they are over now though, woo-hoo!

Yep, that's his face. So cute though, huh? I was actually scratching him yesterday on his rump and he stretches out like a show horse and starts making these faces that looked like he was laughing. It was hilarious, I wish I had my camera.

You're right, starry, that's where mine like it. They also love it right under their chin, in the groove between the jaw. If you have a horse, you'll know what I mean. :p It's hard to describe, but you can definitely feel it there...mine go crazy when you scratch them there.

Bah, it's the worst when people come in and think "Awww, it's so cute, they're teething on me!". Try living with them two years and a full set of adult teeth later. :X

Two years? heck with those draft babies it's bad in under 6 months. It doesn't take very long for them to be a heck of a lot bigger and stronger than you. But yeah, too often people forget baby animals aren't gonna grow up to be adult humans who know they aren't allowed to bite.

I know exactly the spot you mean, but i haven't met many horses that LOVE to be scratched there. Is it all your horses, or just the babies? I bet a lot of baby fuzz gets trapped in there

Oh no, it doesn't take 2 years for it to hurt, I just picked a number. :p They start hurting within a month.

Nope, all my horses, even my non-Minis love it there. Maybe I have strange horses...oh wait, I knew that already.
