Something wrong with betta!

well im going to go tomorrow and see if i can find that maracyn 2 stuff and if worse comes to worse i'll go talk to my doctor on perhaps a small penicillin persciption or something

well i would really invest in some tap water conditioner. i think they sell generic brands for like 2.00. if you cant afford all of the things to keep the fish happy, then you probably shouldnt have the fish.
you can go without conditioner if you let the water sit kin an open container for at least 24 hours. by then most of the chlorine will hvae evaporated out.

yah, well my friend will go look for something. Ive had bettas when i was a kid and ive never had a problem usin just tap water, they were all healthy, and same as now

2 1/2 maybe, but not 3, 2 1/2 is still a pretty long time for them to be in just tap water with out them "dying"...but anyway, my friends goin out right now to see if he can find something, but if he cant, do u think maybe aquarium salt would work on him with the water changes?

Tap water contains different amounts of chlorine depending on where you live. If I were to add straight tap water here to my fish, they would die within hours. You can't really generalize the conditions of water across the board.
If you won't buy a dechlorinator, you should let the water age as has been suggested. The chlorine with evaporate out of the water if it is left sitting.

I do have to ask though...if you are willing to spend money on a script for penicillin...why not just buy dechlorinator? It's like $2 a bottle
