Something Eating Mushrooms

What is your waterflow like in the tank? as shrooms are not too keen on high flow and can detach themselves as can most corals and move to a diffrent spot away from high flow in the tank. I have had a shrrom do it in my tank before and had I not been there to witness it I would have thought something had ripped it off the rock!

Yeah, sounds more like the shroom didn't like the light-flow conditions where it was, detached itself, and is floating around to a new home.

As I posted in your other thread, gorilla crabs don't eat shrooms, but fireworms can. Where'd you get your LR from?

I found the rascal. I saw a some type of worm, it was white with red bars and it was fury. I think it was a Bristle worm.

for one thing I dont see why you think something is eating your shroom just because it lost its footing and moved, or died. Also, bristleworms dont eat mushrooms. Mushrooms are not true corals and can and will move. The key with making them look big and attractive seems to be to put them somewhere they dont really like that's near a place they would like. Then they will stretch their foot and expand their heads to try and reach the "good spot". Rubber band the shroom to a piece of rubble or a shell if it hasn't already found a new home.

The Bristle Worm is 4"+!!!

If you don't like your bristleworm ( I hated mine, 4" also), put a glass with a raw prawn in the tank near a possible to the brisleworm rock and stand by with your camera. I caught 2 like this and a crab as they can get in the glass but not out. Then take it to your lfs.

*bangs head against wall*

Ok, there are 2 types of common worms, bristleworms which are harmless and don't eat mushrooms, and fireworms which can eat mushrooms. Usually fireworms are only found in the carribean or hawaii which is why I asked where your rock came from... Anyways, after using google, I've come up with a couple pics to help figure out which you have.

Fireworm (possibly eats mushrooms)

Bristleworm (under no circumstances eats mushrooms)

Then catch it with a cup and some bait, I want pics of this thing though! One of the key things you can look for is that bi-color separation that bristleworms have. If he's two-tone then he's harmless.

Ok, I will take a pic of it when I catch it. I had one trap set, and all of my Nassarius Snails went inside of it. So I left them in there(it is on the water), so they would not get in the other trap I made with a 2 liter bottle. I hope I catch it tonight.
