Fish Crazy
Hey everyone..
I have two types of coralline algae in my tank, a pinkish purple one, which adheres completely to the surface on which its growing... its covering my Heater and filter too... and i got this other type, a dark red, crusty type of corraline algea, which is pretty easy to remove tho it doesnt grow on smooth surfaces much.
anyway, the dark red variety is slowly being eaten by something in my tank and i think i found my suspect yesterday... in fact i found a couple of suspects, they're these two very similar sea slugs... but i am not sure of its species.
One is red in color, and the other white with irregular tiny red patches on the body.... Both of them have a very weird lookin flat "shell" or helmet sorta thing on the front half of their body, which is colored yellowish tan and is not smooth in appearance, quite uneven. In the middle of this helmet is a tube that protrudes rather high and is apparently where the poopy comes out from. The tubes are of the same color as the slug itself. Oh and they are only very small, round 1cm in length when walking.
In front of this helmet is the mouth... which, unlike most nudibranches and stuff, dont have them "ear thingos"... instead they have the regular snail tentacle things... I hope im making sense... what im trying to say is the head region looks very much like what you see with a turbo snail head...
I dont have a camera, and so i need to borrow my friends, but i hope my description can sorta help make some initial identification... i think these guys mite be the ones eating away at my coralline algea and if they are the culprit, i shall cook em for dinner.
jk
Sorry for the long description, just wanna make sure ive described it as best i can. I'll try post a pic later.
Thanks everyone, and Merry xmas!!!
