Thanks, Brian

Those are Green Severums.... bout 7 months old I believe.... if you look under the right bogwood, you can see my JD as well... always hiding

Naw, he's always hid... he was very boisturous when a youngster (maybe 2-3 months) but when I removed the other JD I had him with, after he had almost killed it, he seemed to mellow right out.... and when he was moved into a 55G, he started hiding under that piece of bogwood... I dont dare take it out or move it... he would have a heart attack from the change prob or maybe stop eating and die on me.

I do catch him out though if I dont turn the lights on the stairs before I come down, so maybe its just he is hiding from me, seeing me as the larger and dominant fish of his world... but you would think, with knowing I was the food barrer, he would come out more... idk

hehe blooming cichlids, my brutis does the same now, ever since i showed him what he looked like with a mirror, unintentional was repairing mirror placed it mirror to him against tank, he went balistic nearly knocking himself cold out, now he cowers in the corner everytime i walk in, missus or student walks in and hes up again like a dog,i walk in back down to the gravel again
can watch him wizzing round the tank from the hallway, soon as i peer round the corner and he see me its back to the gravel again

I would say, maybe 4.5 to 5" from nose to end of tail fin...

Thanks for the compliment

I know what you man nelly... damn fish... like you wanna be able to tell them, im not gonna hurt you...

How big were they when they started? I have some juv sevs (<2") and they rush to the front every time I get close to the tank. Cute!

really liking those severums ! gonne be nice ones. the dollars look great too.

i know what you guys mean with the hiding fish, only for me its the opposite. if i peer round the corner with a mirror or reflective surface, i can see jerome happily swimming and digging pits, as soon as i walk in hes at the glass banging against it trying to bite me and all barred up.
at first it was fun him being aggresive, now its just annoying as its rare to catch the fishes natural behaviour

I like to pull up a chair and work on my laptop in front of the tank. After a while they seem to forget that I'm there, and go off to do their normal business.

They really give me a peaceful feeling in this crazy crazy time.

They were about an inch, or inch and a half... so they've grown quite a bit... actually more than I would of expected as sevs are slow growers.

Thanks for the comments guys!

That is a great setup. Simple and aesthetically appealing. The SD's suit the tank very well.

... And no kidding about 'jumpy' fish. My BP used to be an attention whore and has taken to hiding whenever he sees me (which is a LOT). Although I suspect his moving around for treatment, having a fight with the oscar, and then being moved into a new tank had a lot to do with it .

Have you posted pics of the marine build ?
