Hey everyone, its been awhile, and my tank has gone through a lot. As of the latest setup, I have no live plants. This is the first time in over a year without any live plants (tho i do have some floating ones and other tanks full of plants)

also heres a shot of one of my rainbow cichlid fry who is now full grown. (and mating) its cool to think about how i've raised him from an egg!

i thought they paired up for life, but that guy stole my female from my original big male, and they are guarding wiggler eggs right now.
heres the (new) pair. hes a first time father (and the female is actually his mom, tho i know fish dont think that way, i was disappointed he stole his mom from his dad, lol)

this is another one of my fry getting big, you can see his snout is messed up, got caught in the filter when he was tiny, so he's earned himself a permanent spot in my big tank.

im thinking of entering the second pic for fish of the month. hes a great looking fish. im also posting in the emergency section seeking some advice on the fins of my other rainbow, as well as my Blue Acara, so check that out if you have the knowledge i seek :)

thanks for looking guys.

WOW!!!!

Makes me want to rip out all my plants!! That is THE best non planted tank I have ever seen! And how I miss my Rainbows! :(

Hmmm, might try and source a pair again!

Definately enter it in FOTM and get the tank in too, gets my vote!

You have my vote!

Wow Minnnt! Thanks for the kind words. I wouldnt call it THEE best tank IVE ever seen, but Im pretty happy with it right now.

Thanks Guys :)

IMO you have struck the balance between the wood and the rock and the lighting is perfect for the setting. The substrate sits perfectly too with your kind of decor too. All in all an amazing tank with amazing fish!

LOL @ the Piranha style Rainbow. :look:

i feel bad for the little guy, it was back before i knew what i was doing with tons and tons of fry, little guy got sucked into the filter and managed to stay alive long enough for my to realise what happened and get him out. from there on out, i could tell he wasnt quite the same as the others, but he manages to eat and live perfectly fine, so his name is now "buddy" and he should live a long life in the big tank :) with Barnum and Bailey (his parents) and Bengal, (his brother) I actually dont have a positive sex ID on buddy yet.

Agree with the above comments. A brilliant looking tank.

This is indeed a very nice tank. Goes to show what you can achieve with a some natural looking hardscape material, a bit of thought and a good dollop of artistic talent.

One thing I particularly like is that the saving in lighting will offset the cost of the hardscape and it opens up the realm of low light loving fish.

I have a dark corner I'm now thinking of.....
