Just wondering what people think of mixing Scatophagus multifasciatus with Scatophagus Argus. I have a pair of the former in one of my tanks but added a red version of the later recently after I lost it's partner. Although the red is approx half the size of the silvers it is constantly harrassing them. There is no harm being done at present and at times it could almost be descibed as looking like play but apart from ruining the previous peace of the tank, is this something that is likely to escalate, eventually calm down or just keep going? The thought of adult sized fish continuing this is not a great prospect :S

On another note a question about archerfish. Do T Jaculatrix normally grow slower than either T Chatareus or T Microlepis? All appear to be happy (and no they are not all together)and growing well but although they were all roughly the same size at the start the later two species have more than doubled since I got them will the jaculatrix have grown nothing like that. Normal? :)

Mixing Scat species is fine. They are fairly pushy, but if there's space and food for all, they'll get along fine.

Archers don't grow especially quickly. If yours are happy and healthy, don't worry about it.

Cheers, Neale

Thanks for the prompt reply. Will just keep what I am doing then, was just surprised by the apparent difference in the growth rate between the species but good to know nothing to worry about.

Your Scat school maybe too small, add one or two more and the aggression should stop.
