I was going to post these pics in the 180/75 thread I made in this forum but decided to put them up as a new thread.

I have four large plecos--I had five until recently (a chocolate albino liposarcus).

All four reside in a 180 gallon tank. I have some other small plecos in different tanks but the four big ones are my joy--there's nothing like feeding them then turning off the lights to watch!

Now the pics:

This is a pic of my Liposarcus pardalis (13") and Glyptoperichthys scrophus (rhino pleco)(8"). The Liposarcus is my princess, she's 15 years old. Her name is Pizza (I was 11 when I named her!). She shows her age in her appearance but she is just as active and healthy as the other plecos.

This is my albino G. gibbiceps (8"). He was an Xmas present from my fiance in '03. He is stunning in every way and I look forward to seeing him when he's full-grown. The top pic is of him in the 180, the bottom pic is an older one.

And last but not least, my full-grown G. gibbiceps (17"). I named this guy Tony and he fits his name well--he can be a bully and when he swims around the tank, the other fish better watch out--he's like a tank! He was 2" when I got him in early '00. He's an eating and pooping machine but I love him. His girth is larger than that of a 6 month old kitten!

In both of these pics, he's in my 75 gallon. In the top pic, you can see my chocolate albino liposarcus next to him. The liposarcus was 11". When we first moved to the new place last fall I decided to put Tony in the 75 for a couple weeks to let the other plecos get established in the 180 first. Otherwise Tony would just bully the heck out of all of them.

Crikey they're even more gorgeous than I imagined!

It's hard to believe that little De Niro is going to be Tony-sized one day. I can't wait!

De Niro! I love that name--Robert is my favorite actor (as well as my fiance's). I named Tony after Al Pacino's character in Scarface. Glad you liked the pics :)

Talk about coincidence (or great minds thinking alike!) - Robert De Niro is my fave actor too, and our ancistrus triradiatus nearly got called Pacino. :good: Sadly Al Pacino doesn't sport a moustache. Tom Selleck doesn't quite do it for me

Very nice Plecos. I am especially interested to see the 15year old Liposarcus as I have a one year old. I have never seen a pic of an older one. I have read that they live anything between 20 - 40 years! :)

Lisa - call him Travis, or Bickle (or Max?). Xenomorph will know what I'm on about, but I bet I have Lisa searching IMDB for the night *lol*.

Travis Bickle is my all-time movie hero!

"Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the street"....it's my email signature :D

More people will recognize the quote, "You talkin' to me?" though :good:

Lisa, I agree your plec should be named Travis. And he is also gorgeous. I wish my gibby's fins stayed perfect. But at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium, their pleco tank has several large gibbies, some with perfect fins, some not. How big is yours?

Wow, I hope my old girl lasts that long! I have heard of them reaching 20 years...I am not surprised about 40 years though, they are very hardy fish.
