Yeah should be able to see the fish all around. My current tank is right in the corner of the room and makes water changes/tank maintenance awkward as well as not affording me a very good view!

About the plants in the cyling tank how do you keep yours down in the sand without pots? Do you bury them really well or what as i always have to use pots and it looks ugly.

The plants are just buried in 1-1.5" of sand with some fertiliser. Did have one stem float to the top yesterday but the rest are in OK.

Hopefully they will have chance to establish a bit for a couple of weeks before I put my fish in

I've found that its sometimes best to put backing on the tank, as it makes the fish feel more secure - made a big difference to my community tank when I first set it up.

I bought some black background off ebay but it is shiny so has a mirror effect - you may be able to see it.

Will be on the lookout for some black card I can use instead.
