i thought they could be blueberry shrimp maidenhead assured me they were tigers and since they have been in the tank they have gotten the stripes so
the blue ones are tigers you cant really see the stripes on the photos (you can in real life) and they are very young only 1cm in length so the stripes will darken
will take some pics of the other tigers in the kitchen tank soon - but the black one hasn't got any stripes at all he's just pure black

How much did you pay for the blue tigers if you don't mind me asking?

That is incredibly cheap for 11 blue tigers. Your looking at 12-15 euro's just for one normally.

i don't know i just knew it was cheap for any sort of shrimp :) 20 for £18 made me very happy
i'm ordering some normal tigers from them to go in the tank with the mixed ones that were in the same batch as the blues

I'm pretty sure they are not tiger shrimp. They look like my palmata shrimp(I know they often dye them). Tiger shrimp dont have a a stripe down the middle. Best asking here www.ukshrimp.com

i dont see a stripe down the middle of my blue ones OMG i'm going blind
i wont buy dyed fish or shrimp and maidenhead dont stock them
the tigers are in pic 11 13 14 15 16

will take more pics tommoz and see if i can get the stripes to show up more on the pics i'll try using different flash settings and see how that turns out

At first I thought they were caridina cf. babaulti 'blue', (especially the penultimate pic), but I don't really know my shrimp as well as others, anyway hopefully more pictures will clear it up, either way they still look good (but if they've been dyed I take that back :p)

they are lovely. Inspirational in the sense I want to keep some shrimp now. can the cherr yshrimp be bred easily and the young grow in the same tank?

I'm aware Amanos are tricky due to need for salt for eggs or young???

what size tank qould you suggest for colony of cherry shrimp?

Cherry shrimp can indeed breed and won't eat their young, and are probably the best shrimp to start off with (its what I've got :p).

Amano's do need brackish/salt for their young (some claim that they have been breed in FW, how true this is I don't know but its very rare).

I see you have a 30 gallon empty in your sig, that would make a fine home for a colony of shrimp. The minimum I would recommend is a 10 gallon.

UKShrimp starter article
A good starter article.
