No, not hard at all. Some people think they are hard are to grow, because when they add them to their tank, they melt. This only (usually) happens for two reasons, 1( If a liquid fertilizer is added that contains gluteraldehyde, and 2( If the plant was originally reared in cold water, and is introduced to warm water.

The most common liquid fertilizer that contains gluteraldehyde, is Excell.

Root tabs are the best. (I personally don’t use them. They grow like crazy in my tank, and I don’t use any fertilizers/root tabs. If you added fertilizers/root tabs, they would go insane)

It’s a great background plant, and really helps fill in the tank.
Thanks! I use API Leaf Zone and couldn't see anywhere that it has gluteraldehyde.

Anacharis takes most, if not all, of it's nutrients from the water column, especially if you've left it floating, as it naturally tends to want to do, so liquid ferts would be better for anacharis.

Anacharis doesn't require anything but water really! Its known as a weed in the hobby for the very reason that it pretty much grows anywhere. Its fantastic for the aquarium in terms of oxygenating the water, providing some cover for fish, and it also outputs allelochemicals that inhibit some algae growth.
If you do feed it ferts, you will see improved growth.
Personally, I don't like the look of it and I'd go for something like vallisneria as a tall background plant, but, just my personal opinion!
Swords are my favorite, I just need something besides rosette and amazons in the back if you get what I mean

Excel (gluteraldehyde) isn't a fertilizer... ok, you might call it a co2 fertilizer, but as most people refer to a plant fertilizer, Excel isn't one. Excel is used mostly by people with planted tanks to provide an additional source of co2

Correct... some people get Excell thinking it is a full fertilizer. I have heard people complaining that their Anacharis as melted, and they have been using Excell. (Not in all cases, but for the other reason I mentioned)

I’m a bit useless when it comes to fertilizers, as I never use them. Sorry...

Theres cabomba, hornwort, limnophila sessiliflora... fast growing background stem plants too.. if you would like something with a different texture to the swords
Some of these may well not be on sale where you live as theyre often deemed to be invasive species

I'm still stuck on you getting up at 4am to go to the pool!! That's serious discipline!

I had a bizarre idea walking back from shops today: Air hose rings with anacharis wrapped around them. Like a floating crown of thorns type thing.
Im gonna try two tomorrow. One just with the anacharis on it’s own thatll allow light in and another with the ring centre filled with frog bit and water lettuce.
It’d keep my loose Anacharis stuff in one place and stop em drooping down from the surface tangling with other stuff as I dislodged two surface reaching ones while gravel vacing yesterday.
Anyone seen this done? Or heard of it before? Am I an aquascaping pioneer? Will I go down in fishkeeping history? Will I be fondly remembered by fishkeepers for generations to come? That’d be nice. Especially by the lady fishkeepers, dusty old fishology professors can have the bloke admirers. I’d like it to be known as a Clown Circle if possible? A nice marble one on my headstone would be more than acceptable thank you. National holidays worldwide on the day of its invention: Sept 1st. Waddyathink?
