hey guys. i was experimenting with shooting without flash.
it is very difficult because these P&S cameras have crappy low-light capabilities...

anyways, the pictures arent the greatest but they do show the colors pretty well.
I imagined someone might appreciate the pictures :)

i have other 'bows and many many more pictures, but these are the ones from this group without flash...

comments and/or questions welcome :good:

Wow! the top 2 are most beautiful fishes i have seen! i need to have them too, naaouuw!

Can someone provide me a link for more info about these fishes please?

I just starting up, my tank Juwel Vision 180 coming in next week and i must have these fishes lol

Is 180 litres tank enough? what subtrate should i get? decor - wood, stones or? And most of all - i am a begginers with tropical fishes, is it worth a try?

Many Thanks

I think your pictures are superb and prove what a little care with, and knowledge of a standard camera can produce. Having SLR's brings other problemns like limited Dof so snapping without a flash is just as difficult without a very nice set-up!

Your pics might benefit from sharpening a little, other than that those colours are very natural!

BTW what camera did you use?

snip....

the camera i've been using for the last 2-3 years, is an Olympus SW 720. i originally got it because it can be dropped and also used underwater and it wont break, to go as a side camera to my 20D. since then i had to sell the 20D and been stuck with this thing. the camera used for these pictures was a Sony DSC-W100 or something that I use at work and brought home to try.

those pictures were already sharpened!!! the pictures come out very soft and some very poorly focused because of the low shutter speed (1/20 with all these fast moving fish!)

thanks for all the nice comments guys.

skunkfu, send me a pm and tomorrow (way too sleepy now) i'll give you info on the fish...

I have a Jewel Rio 180, same volume as your tank and i have a shoal of 5 Boesemani Rainbows. They're only young so colouration is nothing like these full grown specimens. I find the tank size to be perfectly adequate. Just bear in mind they reach about 4.5inches in length fully grown, so remember that when choosing what and how many other fish to add to your tank.

the first boesemani is about 1.5 years old. the second one is about 1 year old...neither one of them is fully grown :hyper:
they'll get bigger and deeper bodied...i just can't wait

for tank size just make sure it is at least 36" long so they can swim side to side without feeling cramped :good:
