Some awesome news...

Not quite following all your threads, Rocky. Been super busy. How are you going to cycle the new betta tank? I tried the Dr. Tim‘s methods you’re using on one tank & absolutely hated it. Before & after that aborted attempt, I‘ve gone with filters cycled in an established tank. Have two big Fluval AC 110s cycling in two tanks now, waiting for the 125 G to arrive. Been >3 weeks & ETA of new tank unknown. They say there’s a big nationwide glass shortage.
I'm not using Dr.tims method on my tank. I'm using the cycling method here. I plan to cycle it by using water from my main tank when I do a water change and a cycled sponge filter.

I’ll take a second look. Thought they were basically the same, as are most fishless cycling methods I‘ve seen. What I saw of your posts on that thread sure looked like what I did. All the drop counting & testing was annoying. I’d buy a cycled filter before I’d try that again, that is, if I were unable to cycle my own. Still have the ammonia etc.

The water from the main tank will not contain enough BB to bother with, but filter media will.

Wow how exciting! I am only one state away from you and have a 10 gallon with all equipment for sale;) I used to keep my 10 gallon on my dresserl You will definitely want something to protect the dresser. I used a clear trash bag. I rolled up the excess and tucked it into the top drawer of the dresser. When I did water changes I would pull it out to protect the front, and the drawers don’t always close all the way so it prevented rank water from getting on my clean laundry.

Good idea! Thanks! I would definitely consider getting that tank your selling, but this is a months before type of plan... There's no need for you to hold it for 6 months to a year waiting. So you can just sell it to whoever. Thanks for lettinge know though. Also, my parents wouldnt travel a state away for a tank set up 😂😭
