Brilliant Steve!!!

Could you put this in the Hardware section, then we can link it when needed. Thanks for the write up! :good:

No worries, way ahead of ya dude, posted it there a mo ago.

This is amazing, I may have to give this a bash im sure i have an old pump laying around somewhere.

That's a great little hardware project. Kudos!

And that little tank is look good. :good:

Thanks for the kind comments guys, I'm loving this scape, had to adjust the design of the filter today as it was getting to much air inside and slowing the flow so moved the outlet nossle to inside the canister allowing the filter to sit lower and that way the impeller stays submerged even if it sucks an inch of air in but has been perfect since, also added the pen to the inlet so the suction is from the bottom of the tank, male and female cherries coming soon. :)

The pump is attached to the lid, the outlet is pushed through a hole in the lid then the cone is glued over the top of it, with mine after a couple of days I glued the cone straight to the pump outlet then pushed the cone through the hole in the lid as it mention the filter sat lower in the canister for better flow.

The impeller is not exposed as I cut off half inch of the foam compartment and clipped it back onto the powerhead as it previously had a small compartment housing foam attached to the impeller end of the pump. I think it does say it on the write up and there is a pic of the piece I cut off.

Hope this helps.

Again, I reiterate that this is extremely clever. I love my planted people. You are all so smart! :D

Thank you :) tbh you could build one of these with just trial and error and common sense it's very simple.

Thank you for the explanation. Yes, I had seen the cut off piece, so basically the one end of the original filter (the part clipped on) exposes the foam, right?

Pretty much yeah, it concentrates the impellers flow through the small hole into the sponge compartment but instead of a compartment we have the canister with foam inside. :)

Right here's a couple of pics from this evening with the Iphone so excuse the bad quality. Its doing well now the filter has the spray bar fitted, it only has 2 outlets as it more powerful that way but everyday now I have to get the gunk out of the filter sponge.

I'm liking the way the moss is filling out now and where its getting like 14 hours daylight everyday the moss tips are turning reddish, starting to look slightly autumn ish. Oh and the Pogostemon Helferi is doing just fine so far and starting to spread out. :)

POGOSTEMON!!!

Right, after a little accident with the wind blowing my filter over which pulled over the tank I had to re do it. Decided to move the tree to the right due to the shape of it but while adding some sand from an old community tank I didn't think of the ammonia that may have been in it and got an algae outbreak lol. Gave it a clean and got the filter back up and running and now the snails are munching the algae that's left on the carpet moss, iPhone pic so not great but you should see the pearling I get in the natural light, also you can see how thick the moss is now as you cant see the shadow of the tree through it anymore.

Looks like I have some weird growth from the top of the moss tree lol.

Wind knocking over tank is not something you hear everyday.

Hehe, yeah it does look like something funny's growing on top of the tree.

Only us planted people would come up with educational spam... GEEKS!! The lot of us!

Lol I know, couldn't believe it when I found it and was suprised the filter hadn't burned out!
