Does anyone have a really effective way to get the P.H from about 7.7 to low 7 with out discoloring the water too too much? Is there a way of using peat without the water getting super brown. I am not sure about using chemicals to mess with my P.H, any suggestions?

I just started adding RO water to my tank to get my pH down from nearly 9 and my very hard water soft. I thought about going the peat route, but decided against it for a few reasons: 1) would darken the water; 2) I didn't want to worry about adjust the water too much, esp. during water changes; 3) the RO water will help me breed my apistos. I guess this may not be the answer you're looking for, but it was the easiest solution for me.

an very easy way to drop the ph would be to add CO2 into your tank, it drops the ph, but u have to do regular checks to make sure it isnt to low, when its at the right ph, just disconnect it. It works for me

Yah I have decided not to mess with anything. There are in our city water at the fisth store and they seem bright and active. It will be just fine I am sure. Thanks for the suggestions though.
