Hello all

I'm encountering a problem at the moment and one which im unsure on how to proceed with.

I have a mixed mbuna cichlid tank with around 25-30 small to medium sized cihlids of various type and aggression.

Now then, Ive got labidochromis caeruleus fry at the moment in a smaller grow out tank (around 25-30 litres) 19 of them. They vary from two seperate batches 10 are around 6-7 weeks old and the other 9 are 2 weeks old.

here is the issue, I now have 2 more cichlids in my main 180 litre tank which are holding fry:

now I have a Redtop Nbumbai which is holding and due to spit in the next week or so!

and wait for it....

I also have a victorian cichlid which is now holding and probably will spit within the next 3 weeks also!

Should I transfer both the mothers to be into the grow out tank with all the cearulus fry so that they can both spit?

both the holding females are being hassled a lot in the tank by the dads so obviously my priority is to get them out of there!

Please help!

I'd put them in with the fry. If they're holding they won't eat the existing fry and if they're being hassled they won't spit in the main tank (from what I've read). I don't keep cichlids (yet, though I'm planning on it soon) so you may want to also ask this in the African cichlid section.
