I have been keeping a close eye on my breeding pair of German Blue Rams lately as I am pretty sure they are just about ready to breed, the female has her breeding tube right out so it is very visible and the male is keeping very close to her making sure no-one gets too close for comfort.
Anyway, today when I was doing my weekly water change I was swishing the pipe around picking up all the poop and when I got to a certain area (planted with a big pebble) the rams - but the female in particular - starting pecking at me and got really angry at me being there! After that they kept following my hand around trying to stop me from going back to that spot. Do you think they have chosen that place to lay their eggs? I couldn't see any today, and I haven't noticed them rubbing anywhere yet so I don't think they have bred just yet.
The other day they were butting heads and chasing about but the female didn't seem to like it, I haven't seen them try again since. How long do you think it will be before they breed?
