Hey everyone, my friend just got a snowflake eel. I was wondering if you could point me to a good sight for some reliable info. I googled it and just came up with a bunch of online stores. I'm looking for just some general care info.

Morays (excluding Ribbons) are amoung the most hardy of all fish. They can even cross land for short distances. They are very easy to keep and feed, and Snowflakes (as well as some others) will ignore fish in the aquarium when reasonably fed, making a community possible. They may kill shrimp and crabs, however.

thanks lynden, I'm worried that its gonna get out of his tank, i've heard they are very crafty. Good to know they are hardy though!

EDIT: Do you know if they need to be feed with a feeder stick? Or will they search out their food if it is dropped in?

A carnivore, this eel's diet consists mainly of crustaceans such as shrimps and crabs, as well as sea urchins, but it may eat smaller fish if the opportunity arises. the Snowflake Eel has blunt or flattened teeth designed for grinding up shelled invertebrate prey, primarily crabs, shrimps and mollusks, it nonetheless has a nasty strong bite. Therefore, using a feeding stick is a good idea. Sometimes a specimen may not accept tank fed fares in the beginning, but over time it adapts fairly well to tank life and will accept fresh or frozen meaty crustacean preparations suitable for carnivores. From time to time it is not uncommon for most eels to go into a "hybernation" period, often hiding and not eating for several weeks or so.
