Snowball Plec Or He Is?

10 days ago I bought a snow ball plec from my LFS. Hes very happy and settled in well but Ive started to wonder these last couple of days whether he is a snowball.

Everything Ive read says snow ball with be black bodied with white spots. As hes got more confident and come out of hiding mine is definately brown bodied with yellow spots.

Id love to show you a photo of him but hes not having any of it

My LFS had fish looking very similar to yours, just names yellow spotted plec... they where 2-2.5" long, quite a bulky fish, but the price! £39 he was asking for them! very pretty fish though!

Yeh he is pretty and I dont want to change him thats for sure. just want to know what Im dealing with and if Ive paid over the odds for it. Another LFS said they thought it was a L201 maybe but that was just from me describing it.

So just to say LFS has confirmed he is an L201. Tomorrow I will be getting a L128

Might have just been stress... I have a snowball, looks identical to yours and he goes a bit pale and brownish when I clean the tank and disturb him. He's a year old now and about 3-4 inches, took a long time for him to come out of permanent hiding. Actually I've only seen him eat once or twice, but he must be or he wouldn't still be here! Beautiful species
