hi, im looking for a snakehead to go into a 60 gallon with my flyer cihclids. i was looking for something that grew to be about 10" and that can withsatand a breeding pair of flyers or the other way round. iv looked at rainbow snakeheads but they only average out to be about 5" dont they? hopefully looking for one that is kinda aggressive but wont do damage to my flyers. iv tried googling these snakeheads but cant find anything useful.
Channa amphibeus
Channa baramensis
Channa cyanopilos
Channa gaghua
Channa nox
Channa phnctata
Channa stewartii

Where abouts in the world are you?

CFC has bred these and he might have some left if you in the UK. I forget what species though possibly Gauchua. Have a word with him.

Channa gachua dont grow much larger than the C.bleheri maxing out at around 6-7 inches usually and other than the C.stewartii the others on your list are rarely available if ever in the UK.

To be honest snakeheads don't make the best tankmates for Cichlids, all snakehead species are territorial and aggressive and when housed with Cichlids it becomes a showdown as to who is the toughest which usually results in dead Cichlids, there are exceptions of course but it can be an expensive case of trial and error to find out which combinations work. Snakeheads are best left to species tanks or as a single specimin with larger schooling fish.

ok how about something simular like some kind of pike cichlid. i know little about pike cichlids so are there any species approprate? something predatory but wouldnt cause damage to my cichlids...there 7" and 6" long flyer cichlids.
