read my 'signiture' to find out what fish i have. would a couple of them golden apple snails be ok in my tank, or would my fish bully them?! is the whole breeding thing a big problem? can these snails live in a tropical tank?

id say they would be okay yes

if its the snails i think ur talkin about....the big yellow round nes....they should be okay n they can live in tropical water

I'm afraid I don't know much about snails. If you don't get the info you're looking for here, try asking this question in the "How Does Your Garden Grow" section... allnatural will see it there, and he's the snail master. :D

Golden Apple Snails are fine and no problem - unless you own clown loaches! I had one betta who tried to eat one, but he was a bit nuts (inbred, I suspect).

Those snails will be fine in your curent setup. But they do breed alot. They will lay their eggs above the surface of the water where you can scrape them off if you dont want them. Careful though, like some snails they dont need a male and female to breed.

I don't know about the snails but you can't put a beta in with green tiger barbs. They will nip the fins right off it. The barbs cannot go in with any long finned fish.

All snails are hermaphrodite ie. they all have both sets of reproductive organs. One snail does need another to mate, however, although this might not be apparent as they can store sperm for months.

Golden apple snails lay their eggs on the hood usually, above the water line, in a crunchy sort of "nest". It's easy enough to remove if you don't want any babies.
