R RamJet Fishaholic Joined Mar 1, 2004 Messages 473 Reaction score 0 May 3, 2004 #2 IF the snail does not retract when you lift him, he is most likely dead. Normally you just find an empty shell. Leave it in the tank, others will feed on it and it will make a good home for a hermit on the grow.
