Snails!

My tank has become overrun by snails, about thirty. I have a few questions about them.
1. I have a snail thats totaly white, could he be albino? It didn't bother me that much untill I saw him mating with a female. Since albino is a mutation, could that lead to problems in the baby snail when their born?
2. Do snails really lower nitrates, or is that just a romur I've heard.
3. Do snails lay eggs or are they livebearers

let me tell u something!!! THEY BREED LIKE HELL. in about 1 day they breed about 20.

if u want to get rid of them just leave a cucumber at the bottom of the tank over night, then the next day all of the snails will be on the cucumber, then just chuck it away.

I have lots of ordinary pond snails in my tanks that are livebearers, and have a few that are white also. Don't know about lowering Nitrates, I don't see how they could. I know that some snails do lay eggs, like the apple snails.

yup I too habe about 20 of them.
Anyone truely know the pro's and cons?
