The water will probably have the wrong pH for many fish, someone may have better advice though

I would think that your main problem, if any, would be the Ph of the tank from the coral and shells dissolving into the water. If I were you, I might check to see what the Ph is in the tank and also what it is from your tap or whatever H2O source you use to fill the tank with. That will give you an idea about how much the coral and shells are affecting the Ph.

I bred some apple snails at one time (more on accident, ok, sheer lack of common sense I guess) and they quickly took over the tank. I think that you may have a problem feeding them since it may be easy to overfeed because obviously a snail cannot eat very much in the two or four minutes that is usually the gauge for how much food to put in the tank.

i added water from my 55gal that was up for 5 yrs

i justt added the coral and shells today

i'll check the ph now

ph 6.8 says

I think as the shells seep into the water the PH will change more. Keep an eye on that for a week then see what fish are used to living in a similar PH range to tank water.

i aalso added one of the filters that was on my 55 ( i had 2 on it )

ph is so far staying the same a

i added 4 platy 1 male 3 female for something in the tank

doing good so far

will check daily thou

You would want the PH to be higher so the snails will be healthier. Snails with weak shells aren't going to be attractive to buyers. I think most snail breeders keep their PH around 7.4-8.4.

The platies you have already added will also do better in the higher PH.

cool can raise ph

its easy

thanks any more snail info will add greaty needed

went to check the ph
it at 7.4-7.6

must be the coral - shell i added

fish still are going great
