my tank has just finished hyposalinity now i would like to add crabs and turbo snails. But i treated it with copper before hyposalinity now the silicone is stained blue is it ok if i put them in or will the copper kill them? btw i put in carbon to remove it a month ago.

Copper that is stuck in the seals will kill or fatally harm any invertebrates. This includes snails, crabs, hermits etc. as well as corals.

I suppose you could try a snail or two... But I wouldn't get my hopes up in all honesty.

ok so basically i just have to buy a new tank if i want to keep inverts? i dosed rid ich it says it has formaldehyde and zinc-free chloride salt of malachite green. Is that copper?

I use rid ich a lot. It does not contain copper so if that is what you used, you have a better chance of keeping inverts. Rid Ich is still not good for inverts but certainly not as toxic as copper.

ok so can i keep some snails and blue leg hermit crabs?

Rid Ich still is not good for inverts, but I would definitely give it a shot and buy some. I think you'll be OK.

ok thanks btw one more question i had a coral beauty die but it was taken out as soon as it was dead but i added two more clownfish babys so i have them in the tank and a singapore angel and 10 pounds of live rock and a 3 inch deep sand bed will adding the snails and hermits cause an ammonia spike?

As long as your tank has cycled through (which i'm assuming it has since you added fish), you should have no reason to have an ammonia spike. Inverts don't add much to your bioload. Feel free to add a good bit at a time.

ok yea the coral beauty died about 1 week ago and i got the clownfish about 3 days ago but since i had the coral beauty before the little clowns wouldnt poop as much as the coral beauty. Thanks

Malachite green is not made from actual malachite - they just used the name for the colour

Malachite CuCO3.CU(OH)2 contains CU (Copper)

Malachite Green C23H5N2 has no CU (Copper)

Seffie x

ps the reason your silicone is green is malachite green is a dye
