hi all

does anyone no the reason for my apple snail goin above water level???

thanx

There are only two reasons a snail goes above the water line for any extended period of time. To lay eggs or to move to a new location because the current one is unsuitable (bad water, not enough food, too much harassment by fish). They will occasionally pop up above the water line to breath for a few minutes but this isn't usually fully out of the water.

waters fine had air pump on all day an theres always food around

theres 3 of them but only 1 has gon up i noticed it not very lively than normal an now its gon up its bout an inch away from water surface

how long does it take for them to lay the eggs???

and how long till they hatch???

thanx

my golden apple snails eggs appeared while i was at work one day. In the morning both were in the water, when i got home both were in the water, but when i went to give the evening feed there was a clutch of eggs on the lid 3" above water level. Never seen either snail actually leave the water, they both do the usual crawl up the glass, stick out the syphon and bob for a min, but never seen em out of the water.

sometimes they take their sweet time looking for the "perfect" spot lol Don't worry -- they're brand new at this and just following instinct right now. When you finally do find some eggs they will probably be laid randomly in little mishapen clutches -- then after the practice, you'll begin to find nicely formed even clutches on a regular basis if you keep feeding them good and changing their water often.
