I was watching my cichlids the other day and noticed a small white wormlike thing squiggling around. It's about the thinkness of a hair and only about a cm long, then my fish swolled it up. I just put plants in there the other day and now i'm noticing them in all the tanks with plants. Are they something to be concerned about? I did 50% water changes to all the aquariums I noticed them in and they are still there after the water changes.

I'd say they're planaria, causes by uneaten food. They won't harm your fish, do frequent gravel cleans and feed less.

They are more clear irl, I guess it's hard to get a picture, if they come out of the substrate it's more tank likely them

Nevermind, thats what it is, I just looked at the wrong picture. You said they are harmless right?

As far as I'm aware, they can be unsightly though but you'll only really see them when you move the substrate. Good frequent gravel cleans and feeding less should help :) if you see any uneaten food after a few mins you should be netting it out, feed what they can eat straight away. I'm lucky if my fish let the food drop to the bottom lol!

Mine usually eat it within a minute or so and it's all gone, and if anythign does hit the bottom, my red tailed shark eats it or my bristlenose pleco gets an extra bite to eat. Like I said, I didn't notice them until I put the new plants in there, so idk if they came from the fishstore on the plants or if they were just in the sand and came out when I planted them.

Do you have coral sand? They always seem to appear when people use coral sand.
