Hi guys,

I am looking for a small tank. Something I can use for a breeding/hospital tank. I don't need anything bigger than 5 gallons maybe. Could anyone possibly direct me to the best place online to get a small tank, I would be really grateful. I really don't want too much expense, but I can stretch. If anyone thinks a 5 gallon will be too small for what I want to do, then please tell me. ATM I'm only planning on breeding livebearers.

Thanks in advance, B)

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a 5 gallon at a local fish store? That is, assuming there's one near by.

Joshua

Clearseal are cheapest by miles from what ive seen, only well known store that sell them are pets at home :)

Thanks very much. Awesome tank. Just what I'm looking for.

I guess it would be easier but not cheaper. I also want to do some price comparisons.

Now you mention it, I don't actually think I've seen a clearseal at my LFS.

Thanks

Id imagine clearseals arnt a great choice for LFS because the profit margin on them is pritty tiny unless your selling loads (like pets at home would). Even buying it online with postage is easily £20/30 cheaper then a small tank in a LFS.

Well how much does your local fish store charge for a 5 gallon tank? Oh, and are we talking about a full setup with filter, heater, and lights or not?

Joshua

In both my LFS they ONLY sell complete tanks :) and for a 5-10g your looking at £35-£55

Just for a 10 gallon tank I paid $8, and for a 5 gallon tank I paid $6.

God Bless,
Joshua

Stick around these forums and you'll see alot of price difference between US and UK stores.

Well I'm aware there's some extreme price differances between the UK and the United States. Obviously there should be, we are a seperate country afterall. I was a member of this site several years ago, I just have no idea what my password or screen name was anymore.

For delivery costs etc. vs what you need, it's probably easier to get a plastic Kritter Keeper styley thing. Aquatics Online usually has a few in varying sizes.

If you want cheap, you need second hand. In the last couple of years I've paid £10 for a 29UK, £40 for a 60G and £100 for a 125G. £35-55 for a jam jar is ridiculous.

if your in the UK, im sure the US has an equivelant but why dont you try the freedADS or ADtrader as its known now, as long as you can travel theres always silly cheap tanks on there from people who just dont want them anymore,
i bought a 15G uk tank and light for £10 then a 10G tank for £6.
look around
