i have a two gallon (2.5?) tank that i had originally used for my betta, but it was a bit deep. so i moved him to a shallower one gallon and he's much happier. as luck would have it, shortly after, my molly had fry so i decided to save as many as i could and transfer them to the 2 gal since it was already cycled. they won't be needing it in a month or two so i will have a vacancy. i don't plan to save more fry since my molly tank is small and is pretty much at capacity (any survivors will be given away in the future). this 2 gal tank is a hexagon shape, 8 inches wide, 8 inche long?, and about 10 inches deep. what would you all recommend for it? i was thinking of adfs (one or two) and maybe two cherry barbs, since they don't need to school. or maybe something else. what others, besides bettas (i'm not allowed to look at them unless there happens to be a chocolate one  ), would you all suggest? any fancy goldfish that don't get huge that could live by itself or with one other? (don't know much about goldfish yet). any thoughts will be welcomed!!!!! :D
thanks you all!

Black telescopes are sweet fancy goldfish :)

Mabye a few neon tetras? Sounds like a goodtank for 2 gallons :D

I don't know much about goldfish either, but I think all of them get really big (it's just most people don't put them in big enough tanks, and they die early  ) but I could be wrong about that.

What about a dwarf puffer or two? I love my little puffer, and she's VERY entertaining. :)

please dont put any type of goldfish in that!

they are the messiest fish ever!

trust me, iv got 2 cycling the tank, in a 3 gal, its not very nice when u stir the gravel!

go with some small not messy fish, (tropicals) how bout 3 or 4 guppies?

or zebra danios, (infact i dont really think theydd be good, they like big spaces right?

ermmm how bout white clouds, there small and i dont think they need a heater!

u can put about 4- 5 of em in, i guess

although im not so experienced :shifty:

mmmm, a dwarf puffer. could only have one though right, because they can be nippers? hmm, will have to do some research. i have mollies, don't really want any more livebearers. geeza, i am not allowed another betta (at least not until i get another 1 gal....... ). okay, ixnay on the goldfish. nothing that needs a school, the tank is deeper than it is wide, so not a ton of room for even a school of neons in my opinion........... -_-

You couldn't put a goldfish in there. The tank is way too small. Goldfish need a minimum of 5 gallons per fish just because they are so messy !!!

black moors are nice fancy goldfish and grow slowly and not very large. maybe some golden barbs or tetras or neons. or a pearlscale fancy goldfish, beautiful.

As far as the puffers, they won't be in with any mollies, will they? You can have more than one together, but I wouldn't recommend putting the puffers with mollies...I wasn't too clear on if the mollies would be sharing the tank or not...it was early in the morning... ;)

no, the litte tank has molly fry right now, but they'll be going to the big tank and new homes in a month or so, so the tank will be empty. :)
would that tank be enough space for one or two dwarf puffers?

 :hyper: u could do what i do i have two small goldfish in mine hehehe nipey and chewy they love it so i don't care what everyone els will say that it over crwoed cos i keep its nice and clean and they are happy :D so happy i am afriad they might breed -_- lol which would be dream but i think they are just playing games :D

You said the tank was 2 or 2.5 gallons right? Well, if you just had the two puffers in there and plenty of little hiding spots and plants, they should be fine. They are very interesting and entertaining...and small. Mine is just under an inch and I've had her for over a year now.

You may need to know they will only eat frozen or live food (mine loves frozen brine shrimp) and then need small snails to eat to keep their "beak" filed down. :)

dixaisy930, thanks for the tips. i think i will do a little more research on them, but they sound like a good choice. i've seen them at a lfs and thought they were neat but never considered them before since their tank was labeled aggressive. frozen foods won't be a problem. will they eat freeze dried bloodworms or just the frozen kind? (have a ton of freezed dried for my otehr fish) what do you mean by snails to keep their beak filed down? what kind of snails?

2 or 3 bubble bee gobies would work too...they aren't quite as active or entertaining, but SOOOO cute! lol

Can you tell I'm just a little partial? Lol
