when you say platys how many.... if you dont over stock, the small UG filter should be enought , as long as there maintained properly.

well ive had some trouble w the adult tank 2 female platyies an a pleco died in a month so i have 1 male platy in there an i have 4 babies born on 7/7 in 2nd tank

The two gallon tank is way to small for platys as they are very active fish and like room to move, really that tank is only good for a betta.

Or African Dwarf Frogs. In the case of a betta or a couple of frogs a filter is not absolutely necessary (in fact neither like much of a current) though I find it helps to make the tank a "living" environment. With no filter you just have to keep a closer eye on water parameters and do very large weekly water changes.

I would go for mini sponge filter for 2g. Other seems to be too big for it. Also it spongefilter act as air pump as well.
