Sorry you did not get to hear what you wanted regarding stocking that 2.5 gallon of water with fish species.

Always best you ask first rather than going ahead without research and then facing real issues with fish suffering / dying.

Glad you took this all on board and now looking positivitely in the fact you can add more plants and even adding an extra frog which imho, is better actually in that sort of set up

Perhaps you may plan in future in getting an inexpensive small 10 gallon tank or something and getting a Betta Splenden on a small group of guppies or suchlike

Very nice, I would love something like this one day, I had something similar a few years ago with a tree frog but no water fall, I'm intrigued how the waterfall works I take it there is a pump where all the water is recirculated? is there a gully somewhere for the water in the pond to go?

Thanks guys.  betta fish, there is a small Repti Flo 250 pump behind the waterfall.  I wanted to set it up so that I could easily access the pump for maintenance without disturbing the setup, so I put in the white pvc board which the pump is behind, and added the background on the face of it.  The bottom of the tank is about 4" of hydroton LECA balls that is basically just a lightweight option to displace water.  That in turn leaves the same 4" of just water behind the pvc board that the pump sits in.  Having that water table underneath the substrate is what helps create and maintain the high humidity in there needed for the plants and frogs.

I just drilled the new little "bath" piece with a few small holes, so the water drains right back down into the LECA balls.  Simple idea, and seems to work so far.

I know this is a fish forum, but I'm happy to answer any questions about this setup if anyone's interested.
