Can anyone recommend a small colourful group of fish that will look good in a planted tank? Neon tetras are an obvious choice but I would like something a bit less common

I saw some neon gold barbs in the lfs yesterday which were cute and White cloud mountain minnows. What else might look good?

Harlequin Rasboras would be really nice...what size is the tank?

Tank is 20g. See sig for current stocking.

I wanted to add another shoal of small fish. The x ray tetras are cute but I wanted to add a bit more colour.

I am tempted with the ember tetras. Do they stay small?

white clouds are very very hardy. and its said they look most stunning in a planted aquarium with black background. i love WCMMs and theyre very affordable

While the gold barbs may be tempting, my gold barbs are over 2 inches long now that they have had a chance to grow up. That is not too big for a 20 but the ultimate size is worth keeping in mind.

platys or swordtails, they are easy to breed and come in a variety of colours

Harlequin Rasboras, and also rummy nose tetras....

you could also try
