looking for a small fish for clean-up detail for a cichlid tank 35 gal hex. ph7.8 any suggestions on what would work best in my tank. types of cichlids i have are in my signature thanks.

first of all you tank is set up totally wrong youve got african cichlids mixed with american cichlids if youre tank is set up for american cichlids it will shorten the life of the african cichlids vice versa .plus they eat different foods some foods are bad for africans so i reckon you should take back either the americans or the african your choice then set the tank up properly to the fishes needs ask anyone,

sorry for being a little harsh

Plus the fact that you're pretty overstocked and a hex tank is awful for [american] cichlids as it doesn't have the area needed for them to create thier territories. You need to sort out your current stocking before adding anything else.

pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee, get a bigger than or return some of the fishes. i dont think you should even be thinking of adding anymore fish regardless of size.

I'm usually one to push the limits, but I'm sorry, I have to agree. Hex tanks are more suited for african cichlids, and all of those africans will beat up and tear the New world cichlids to shreds. They're much much faster and are constantly bickering with one another.

thnks for all of your honesty and your advice.i know i have a mixed regions of cichlids it was just something i wanted to try. i no longer have the daffodil or the red zebra becouse of their aggessivness towards my EBJD . the rest of my fish are getting along right now and i will keep a close eye on them for any trouble. as far as the food i feed my cichlids. i feed them small cichlid pellets, cichlid wafers , frozen bloodworms . they are going to be in the 35 gal tank for about 3 more months until i move. i a brand new 55 gal that i will put them in then.

with the livingstone and the electric yellow the bloodworms arent good for the africans causae it does something to there stomach can someone explain more thoroughy to him what it does to them

please do tell. i know they are both omnivorous though.
