Ive become attracted to catfish for some reason :hyper:

I plan on having corys and plec, but which others can i keep in a communal tank that wont grow too big and eat smaller fish like neons? Ive come across a lfs that sells glass catfish which i read are ok for what i want but are there any others?

cheers

bugger!
i'm a huge fan of catfish to and i like loaches...the first loach i got was a coolie loach, but beware thay explore every nook and crany there is in the tank but don't worry thay can go through filters un-harmed, another fave is the bulldog pleco columbia

pictus catfish.look them up
You are recommending a ravenous predator which gets to 6" and thinks little of eating 3" fish to go in a peaceful tank with neons?

Perhaps it is you who should look them up ;)

To the OP: see if you can find the spotted woodcat (its in the Tata genus). They are an amusing and different fish to keep.

The Kooli loaches don't go through filters unharmed... i found mine in filter. Dpeends on the filter i guess but if its external very unlickly to get through it fine .

For community tanks, South American Bumblebee catfish and Banjo Catfish are great. Even though they hide and are largely inactive throughout the day, they are quite active at night. That makes them even more fun to spot. You could also look into the various syno species.

if your worried about size you could try otocinclus, it's the smallest catfish i've ever seen.

or maybe yor have a madtoms where you live

MADTOMS IN HOME AQUARIUMS

Madtoms make ideal aquarium inhabitants. Even as adults, they are too small to eat most aquarium fish.

During the day, madtoms typically hide under rocks or other aquarium structures, with maybe only their whiskered chins sticking out. Place food in the aquarium, however, and they quickly swim out to feed.

Madtoms are particularly well suited for aquariums set up for native fish. Minnows, madtoms, darters and topminnows all adapt well to aquarium life and are resistant to the diseases that often plague tropical fish. With a valid Missouri fishing permit, you can possess up to 150 bait fish. However, you cannot collect or possess endangered or threatened species, such as mountain or Neosho madtoms.

or you could get some very attractive dwarf stone suckers (more commonly known as a hillstream loach)
