Im looking for a small catfish/Pleco to fit in my aquarium. I have an Aqua Start 500 and would like to complete the tank with one-three of these.

Im looking for ones that stay relativly small as my tank isnt suited to the larger Pleco's.

Ive been looking up at Oto's and they would be ideal im just wondering if there are any other options (catfish) that could also be used if i choose not to go with or cant locate some Oto's.

Many Thanks,
Darren

You have Oto's or Cories which stay very small for catfish
There a few pleco's which stay small but I don't know the specifics of your tank and also Pleco's can be terratorial towards other pleco's so having more than 1 in a tank may be a bad idea however Im no pleco expert

Thanks for your help. Ive read up quite a bit on Otos and they seem happier in pairs or three's as they can become shy on their own.

Il await a few more response's before i make a choice to make sure i make the correct choice. Thans got your help.

What's the volume of the tank?

65 litres my stock is in my signiture. If the catfosh/Oto would then class the tank as over stocked i can re-home the Platy and Danio in a different tank.

Thanks for your help

If you can find them then Parotocinclus are a good bet, they can be territorial but if you give them enough caves and plants then they'll be fine. I have 2 (I'm fairly certain they're both males) and although one is very definitely dominant the other one manages to get his own back on occasions.

I think your stockings got room for a few members of ground crew, either otto's or one of the smaller species of cories, both prefer to be in groups of 5/6+ so make sure you get a few.

:)

Thanks guys :) Just popped to the LFS all they had was either the big Pleco's which wont suit my tank, sucking loach which ive heard are not to good so i plumped for 3 Oto's.

Will see how they get on :)

Thanks for all your help! Top forum here glad i found it :D

What about a Queen Arabesque ( L260 ). They only get to 3.5" in length. A great looking Plec and are quite common and not too expensive ( around £20 - £25 ). I think they'll be perfect for your tank.
