Hi there I have a gourami that seems to be almost about to lay eggs I have tetras and an angle fish in the same tank as the dad and mum should I move them?
I am not even sure that is a female. Female dwarf Gouramis usually have no color. That looks like a blue version of the Dwarf Gourami. It also has a pointy dorsal fin, which indicates male. I will let other forum members comment.
They are both males because of the pointed dorsal. Is it the blue one you thought is pregnant? Because it could be that it is just fat or it has a tumour ( which I don't think it does but usually a rounder and fatter belly indicates a tumour in some fish). Also, dwarf gouramis are one of the shortest lived anabantoids. They can easily get a disease called iridovirus which shortens their life span a lot. @Colin_T knows basically everything about any tropical/freshwater fish so hopefully he can comment on this a well.
