hi, just wondering whether a water conditioner with a "slime coat enhancer" is acceptable for fiddler crabs.

thanks.

You mean a dechlorinator, right? Like Stress Coat?

It should be fine. The crabs don't need the slime part, considering they'll be out of the water a lot of the time, but they need dechlorinated water.

yeah, I knew they needed it dechlorinated... thanks!

another question, would "top fin tropical flakes" be acceptable food?

a description is here

Something like hikari hermit crab food or some sort of shrimp food would be better, but the flakes should be OK.

Although, you may know what they need, but I've got to ask, what sort of set-up do you have the crabs in?

I got some shrimp pellets, they should work better.

No problems with the setup... they have sand and brackish water and seem content.

what's the traditional way to feed them? if I leave the pellets on the sand they get soaked and make a disgusting mess, so I've put them in a little plastic dish... but I haven't seen them eat at all. after how long, if they're not dead, can I assume they're getting food?

When I kept fiddlers they ate a lot, as soon as they found food they'd gobble it up. Maybe check your water perams and see if all is well. They are scavangers so will eat almost anything, I fed mine tubifex worms and special crab pellets, I just dropped them to the bottom of the tank.
