Hey, today my fully cycled established aquariums heater and filter lost power for an unknown amount of time, it was a localised issue and not a whole house power cut so we're not sure how long it was off. We turned the light off at 10pm last night and when we went to turn the light on again at 4pm today the whole system was off could of happened 18 hours before could have been 5 minutes before. All back on now and heating up, everyone looks happy but it looks like there is a very slightly cloudiness to the water. Anything I should be worried about? Thanks.

Hi, what type of filter are you using? Sponge, canister, internal, hang on back? If it's any type of external filter where the water had no way of getting back into the tank, chances are it had just gotten a bit cloudy from the waste in the filter. Often during/after a power loss, it's suggested to unplug the filter and wash it before turning it back on to prevent dirty water such as that from entering the tank. However, this late I don't think there's anything you could do except for a water change if you notice any odd behaviour in your fish and testing water parameters to make sure nothing's out of the usual and no ammonia/nitrite is present. The cloudy water could also just be a result of stillness in the water from not moving around and circulating, in which case there should be nothing to worry about and it should clear up easily within a few hours, though I expect the water should be clear by now? If not, I'd suggest just a partial water change in case. Hope this helps!
