my betta has been watching over his eggs, seen them turn into fry well its been about 3 days since he spawned and got his eggs, the fry seem to be able to get back to their nest allright without the father but they still swim like this | instead of this --, the only problem really is that the father looks really warn out and is even lieing on the ground some times unless he sees a fish fall. should i remove him now and risk the death of some fry? the water is about 6 inches high, should i drop the level by a few inches and remove the father and when the fry a free swiming raise the level each day?
or should i leave him in there, wait a day (the fry should be free swiming by then) and put him in a rest tank after that?

I think it's better to leave the father a little bit longer with his nest untill the fry swim free. For a healthy male this will be no problem.

If you think it's better to remove the male it's a good idea to lower the water level, but don't raise it until the fry are about 2 weeks old.

ok hmm i think his ok, cause he moves around everynow and then, i moved the light so its only dim on him, i think it was gettin to him cause now he seems to be fine, btw my fry are all scattered about attached to my plant soo i think they will be free swimmin soon, but they still have the yolk sack, i can see a black spot where its suppose to be, well i think its black but u know with a dim light now and all  is it suppose to be a black spot, i thought it was suppose to be yellow :S cant remeber wat my last lot looked like

o oh  i think i shoulda took him out last night... it appears asthough nearly all the betta fry is gone :/ , there is proberly about ten, im going to do my best to save them :) , however I am not sure wether or not i may have done a seriously bad thing. I had to take some water out then put it back in, cause my male beta was in the container i was using him to make his nest in, i took it out, heaps of water flow hapened, heaps of yuky bits of poo and such are floating around, should i give the tank a water change? i tried feeding them these egg drops for fish and some of them appear to be eating it, but some of them appear to be a bit unwell and are just staying near the bottom :(. as for the father man his exausted :/ u shoulda seen how happy he was to get some food!, owell I will try the best to save them

atleast five betta fry are still alive :) allthough i do kno there should be atleast like 30 :/ , I hope i got a male, and i hope they survive, Im going to move them to the community tank as soon as they are big enough and have their colors, except if their all males, in that case i will put them in the divider, so err wat u think are my chances of keepin these bettas alive -_- , I know, hmm when i breed my next lot and if they are succesful i will put these fry with the other fry
