how long did it tank for the grass to grow along the bottom.?

The walls are made from individual pieces of slate for the bottom wall and stone for the top. They are all "glued" together with silicone. They are mounted on custom cut styrofoam bases. The ends of the walls where they meet the black glass are attached using black silicone. The idea was to seal up the gravel in each tier so there would be minimal leeching of gravel ferts into the water. This project took me several months of design and layout before it was actually assembled.

I had wanted to have caves inset into the walls but when I tried to make that work I discovered there just was not enough room for them.

That is dwarf hairgrass and it took about 2 months to grow in. The tank has about 3 wpg and pressurized co2. Unfortunately I added a pleco which managed to uproot much of the grass foraging for food. One note about the dwarf hairgrass- swordtails love the stuff- they think it is spaghetti.
