Not really about plants, but this is the best forum I could find to put this in. Besides, I'd like to plant some Java Moss on these newly acquired items anyways. Before I put these in the tank, is there anything special I should do besides rinse them off? Should I bleach 'em, etc?
Thanks.

I was told by specialists not to put chemicals on them just rinse- no soap

I read in a post somewhere on here to check rocks first by putting sum vinegar on them and if they rect and bubble then the rocks are not appropriate for aquariums, I mention this becauser I THINK I also read that mineral rocks were not good for an aquarium I will have a look to see if I can find that post agian

im no pro, but i think bleach and fishtank should never be in the same sentence!

Bleach is fine on non porous things ie glass, however, i'm wouldn't use it on stone. Don't boil either as stone can explode rare, but it can happen). I would soak in hot water, what kind of stone is it?

Not sure, my LFS had a few boxes of different kinds of rocks for $1.50/lb. I figured i'd make a cool looking cave for my fish.

Thanks for that.

I think it's sandstone. I am confused though. It says not recommended, but it also says it's mostly safe to use. Then it says it "may" be harmful...ummm, so can I use it? I am thinking I will probably just see if the LFS will trade me for some slate instead. That's too bad since it's so pretty.

Sandstone. Not recommended.

Water-worn pebbles of varying sizes can give a very natural look to an aquarium. Sandstone is mostly safe to use for all tanks after the standard cleaning protocols; however it is a sedimentary rock made from small grains of quartz and feldspar.
Note; due to the feldspar, (which can contain potassium, sodium or calcium) it may be harmful.
