will the skunk and blood red shrimp live in low salt ? how low can i go ?

Why would they need to be? Are you trying to get rid of ich or something? Im sure they can be a little lower than 1.020 but since they are inverts and sensitive to conditions outside the ranging of the ocean's parameters, I wouldnt go too low.

Yes i have ick thats why im going low

I wouldn't go below 1.021, marine keepers already keep there tanks too low, they shoud be 1.025 but no one but me seems to keep them there, you lower the SG with Ich because it stresses SW inverts to go to low SG's and Ich is a SW invert just like the cleaner shrimp are, Lowering SG is a bit like copper meds in tha regrd, it will hurt the good guys just as much as the bad guys. Shouldn't those cleaner shrimp be dealing with the Ich? Perhaps rehoming the blood red for a while would help as the skunk will spend more time out cleaning if its gone.

You need to lower your specific gravuty to around 1.009 to be an effective treatment for ich. Only your fish would be able to suvive at this level.

I had an oodinium outbreak and lowered my SG to 1.018 with no effects on the shrimps. Destroyed my colony of acros though so i dont recomend it. I eventually removed the fish and put them in quarentine for 5 weeks in copper. this solved the problem. Ich and oodinium cannot survive without a fish host to feed from.

Yeah Id reccomend [after lots of stressful experience] just getting a proper sized QT from the start and using Cupramine copper treatment on the fish. Even if it doesnt kill the inverts, it stresses them out. Quarantine them for 5-6 weeks to be totally safe to make sure all the parasites die. Monitoring the copper level closely is crucial, but doesnt need to be used for all of the 5-6 weeks. More like 3-4 of them, depending on how the fish are. No need to raise temp or lower SG.
