can a skimmer that fits onto the side of the tank be fitted to tanks with lids on?
i dont have anyway for it to go underneath so it has to go inside or on the side of the tank but the tank has a lid on

The only way I can think that it would work is to cut the lid so it fits around the skimmer. :good:

Most skimmers I have seen have a lid on the top.

The skimmer needs an air source to produce the bubbles which create the skimmate and all have a collection chamber/cup on top for collection/removal of the skimmate.

Unless you buy a tank specifically for marine there is always some modification to be done somewhere for equipment, etc. (bit like putting an external filter on a freshwater tank.....sometimes need to modify the lid/hood for the extra pipework).
