i have a v2 600 skimmer and it was louder to start with, still can hear it a bit but not that much.
give it a couple of weeks.

couple of weeks without sleep then may have to turn it off at night.

is it the skimmer or the pump making the noise?
I've mine placed in the sump and its quiet (V2 600)
