Not too long after adding the mollies to our tank, we found 5 or 6 fry- about 10 or 12mm long. I figured they were newborn. Yesterday, I found two more fry only about 6 or 7mm long- are they just petite? Or were the first fry much older? These little guys heads can't be more than 1 or 2mm wide, and they get lost easily in the breeding trap. Was I just lucky to find older fry the first time?

hi
the 10 or 12mm one sound a little older. we have one survivor who was born about 3 1/2 weeks ago its about 10mm long and 2 that were born on sunday theyre about 5mm & very skinny across ways. mollies can stop their labour for a while & release their babies over a period of time.
theyre cute though arent they & did well to survive. we have to move our fry asap or our tank cannibals ( tiger barbs) will get them, which is why we only have a couple of survivors. we did a few months ago catch our female swordie & put her in a separate tank - we ended up with 50+ gorgeous bright orange swordie babies who all survived. thankfully we managed to rehome all of them once they were big enough but as we dont want to be over run we're not doing that again but i loved seeing them all grow. at least 3 mollies will be easier for us to get new homes for.
enjoy the babies!!!
