Just got a sixline today. He's about an inch long and my huma who is 3inches is really giving him a hard time. Will this continue?

i wouldnt doubt it. being the sixline is so small, he's going to be considered snack for the huma huma. if u check out live aquaria, heres a link to the sixline wrasse, they say use with caution when dealing with triggers.live aquria: sixline wrasseso best bet is to keep an eye on the two. since obviosuly u dont wont to lose the sixline, or have it hide all the time

I find that most Triggers are no where near as aggressive as people say they are.

That said, Humu Humu Triggerfish are more aggressive than the ones I keep. It would be a good idea to rearrange the rockwork in your tank, and give the Sixline a chance to make a territory.

Tell that to the Picasso that charged me last month in Sharm elSheik, he was after my blood

I said 'most' :#

People always give these horrible tales about Humu Humu Triggers chasing people and biting them, I'm sure it happens but it never happened to me, even in Hawaii snorkeling within a few inches of a large one and his territory. He just ran away. :dunno:

Indeed, they're not queen triggers, but they're still not to be under estimated :hey:

I have a huma huma in my tank. He's the smallest thing in the tank but very feisty.. he holds his ground. He's pretty good with everything in the tank unless someone pickes at him first. But anything new I put in he goes to town on. I got a cleaner wrasse about two weeks ago and he messed with it all day. When I put new snails in he really tries to get at them (digging into them with his nose) It gets to the point where I have to hit the glass to get him to back off. But after a day he never messes with them again. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I wouldn't worry about it too much. :good:

...I noticed that you keep that Humu Humu in a tank with shrimp. Tell me that's not true or I may be forced to buy one for my (probably shrimpless) semi-aggressive reef tank I will have up in a month or two...

Although I have seen even Clown Triggers be kept with shrimp... :dunno:

Yes, everything in my signature is in my tank. I do have a lot of hiding places. But I was assured by my LFS that it wouldn't be a problem in the tank. I did some research and came to the same conslusion. Have you heard different?

????

Odd, everywhere I look says they they will annihilate a reef tank.

...of course, they also say that a Niger Trigger is the same way.

The more I read about docile triggers like humma hummas, nigers, etc, the more I come to think of them just as I do pygmy angels. They have the ability to be destructive but certain individuals can be peaceful. Doesnt mean they wont decide to change their mind in the future though. After going through a nipping coral beauty, I no longer think its worth the risk, JMO :)

Yeah, I agree about it being a risk, I was just dreaming and grasping at straws. As always.

Speaking of that, I was looking at a Balistoides viridescens for my upcoming 77 gallon reef today :hey:

(in case someone didn't know, B. viridescens is better known as the Titan Trigger, the 3' monster that can sever a man's arm in one bite :shout: )
